Dear IAU National Members and NCAs,

I regret to announce that IAU General Secretary Jose Miguel Rodriguez Espinosa has resigned from his position due to unforeseen personal circumstances. The IAU is grateful to Jose Miguel for his service over the past five years, starting as Assistant General Secretary in 2019.

In accordance with the IAU Statutes, the Executive Committee fills vacancies that occur among its members. We are pleased to announce that past General Secretary Piero Benvenuti has agreed to be Interim General Secretary, effective Nov. 1 until the conclusion of the General Assembly on August 15, 2024. During that time, he will temporarily step down as Director of the Center for the Protection of the Dark and Quiet Sky from Satellite Constellation Interference (CPS), and the Interim CPS Director will be Richard Green.
