Astronomy for Mental Health: First Online Facilitator Training
The IAU Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD) is inviting participants to the first online facilitator training for the Astronomy for Mental Health initiative, taking place on 14 August at 12:00 UTC.
The upcoming training will introduce participants to practical facilitation skills and show how astronomy-inspired activities can be used to create supportive spaces that encourage reflection and well-being. The 90-minute online session will be presented by Dominic Vertue, IAU OAD Astronomy for Mental Health Project Lead.
The training is open to everyone — no clinical background, previous astronomy experience or telescope is required.
Please note that the programme is not a clinical intervention training. Participation does not provide a professional qualification or certification, nor does it authorise participants to practise as mental health professionals or representatives of the IAU OAD.
