The Committee for Astronomy of the Polish Academy of Sciences was established in 1952, and in its present form, it functions on the basis of Resolution No. 2/2011 of the General Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences dated 26 May 2011 and operates at Division III of the Comprehensive Sciences and Earth Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The Committee for Astronomy of the Polish Academy of Sciences covers astronomy with its scope of activity, and the Committee's tasks include undertaking all activities aimed at the development of astronomy and the use of its achievements. The Committee for Astronomy of PAS also serves as the National Committee for Cooperation with the International Astronomical Union.
The Committee for Astronomy of the Polish Academy of Sciences elects a representative of Poland in the international consortium publishing the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics and annually applies for funds for the publication of the journal.
Open access publishing with Polish universities and Elsevier

Elsevier and the Polish Consortium have forged a collaborative arrangement to facilitate authors in Poland seeking to publish their work in an open-access format.
This collaboration offers authors affiliated with member institutions the opportunity to disseminate their research openly in Elsevier journals without incurring article processing charges (APCs). The expenses associated with open-access publication are borne in accordance with the terms stipulated in the agreement. It's important to be aware that the agreement includes a predetermined number of APCs, which will be assigned based on the date of acceptance.

IAU President letter to IAU National Members and NCAs

I regret to announce that IAU General Secretary Jose Miguel Rodriguez Espinosa has resigned from his position due to unforeseen personal circumstances. The IAU is grateful to Jose Miguel for his service over the past five years, starting as Assistant General Secretary in 2019.

Dear colleagues,
You are reminded that the deadline for late registration for the XVII Latin American Regional IAU Meeting is the 13th of November.
The XVII LARIM will take place during the spring of the southern hemisphere in Montevideo, a city rich in cultural expressions.
This meeting is targeted to professional astronomers, postdocs, postgraduate and undergraduate students pursuing a research career in Astronomy and will provide an outstanding opportunity for scientific discussion and foster new collaborations among astronomers from Latin America.

Dear IAU member,
I write to update you on a revision to the revised IAU Code of Conduct. The IAU Executive Committee has had extensive discussions after the initial revised Code of Conduct was posted. I received about three dozen emails from individuals, invited the IAU Executive Committee Working Groups on Equity and Inclusion and on Women in Astronomy to provide comments and suggest revisions, and talked with many others. Many thanks to all of you who took the time to communicate with the IAU or me directly.
5th Shaw–IAU Workshop on Astronomy for Education

We would like to inform that the 5th Shaw–IAU Workshop on Astronomy for Education registration is still open.
The fully virtual workshop will take place from 29th November to 1st December 2023.
This year’s Shaw–IAU Workshop will have two themes: practical and scientific astronomy education. The practical astronomy education theme will focus outside the classroom, looking at how astronomy can be taught in a diverse range of environments such as science centres, planetariums and youth clubs. The scientific theme will be planetary atmospheres in the Solar System, exoplanets and our own Earth.
