IAU OAD opens 2026 call for astronomy-for-development projects
The International Astronomical Union Office of Astronomy for Development has announced its 2026 call for proposals. Seed funding will be available for projects that use astronomy to create positive societal impact.
The call is open to applicants from anywhere in the world, regardless of formal qualifications in astronomy, provided the team has access to the relevant astronomy and development expertise. Proposed projects may address areas such as astrotourism for socioeconomic development, astronomy for mental health, or the use of astronomy knowledge and skills for development.
Stage 1 applications are open until 31 May 2026. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a more detailed Stage 2 proposal, with projects expected to be implemented in 2027.
