IAU welcomes new Individual and Junior Members for 2026

The International Astronomical Union has announced the admission of 270 new Individual Members and 236 new Junior Members in 2026. The new members join the IAU’s international community of more than 13,000 astronomers.

Junior Membership supports early-career researchers within five years of receiving their PhDs, enabling them to participate in the scientific activities of the IAU and its international network.

The next call for membership applications will be open from 1 October to 15 December 2026.
