Public observation of the 12 August 2026 total solar eclipse in Lugo
A public observation of the total solar eclipse will take place in Lugo, Spain, on 12 August 2026, near the UNESCO-listed Roman Wall.
Visitors will be able to observe the eclipse safely using certified eclipse glasses, filtered telescopes, binoculars and projection devices. Trained monitors and university staff will provide scientific explanations and safety guidance in Galician and Spanish, with limited support in English.
Lugo lies directly within the narrow path of totality, where the Moon will completely cover the Sun for a few minutes.
No advance booking is required.
