The 42nd Meeting of the Polish Astronomical Society (PTA) took place on 8–12 September 2025. This year’s event had a special character as it coincided with the 200th anniversary of the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw, which co-organized the meeting together with PTA. The sessions were held in the historic building of the Old Library of the University of Warsaw.

The program featured the latest research results across a wide range of fields in astronomy and astrophysics. Scientific sessions covered topics such as the Sun and heliosphere, planetary systems and small bodies, compact objects and multi-messenger astronomy, gravitational-wave and high-energy astrophysics, stars and interstellar matter, cosmology and large-scale structure of the Universe, as well as galaxies and extragalactic astronomy.

A special historical and scientific session was dedicated to the rich history and achievements of the Warsaw Astronomical Observatory. The Meeting also included the presentation of prestigious PTA awards, such as the Bohdan Paczyński Medal, the Włodzimierz Zonn Prize, and the Young Astronomer Prize.

Participants could also attend accompanying events – the jubilee reception celebrating the Observatory’s 200th anniversary, an exhibition at the Kazimierzowski Palace, and a science picnic at the Astronomical Observatory in Ostrowik near Warsaw.
