XXXIII IAU General Assembly – Registration and Abstract Submission Now Open
The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has opened registration, abstract submission and travel grant applications for the XXXIII IAU General Assembly (GA 2027), which will take place in Rome, Italy, from 10 to 19 August 2027.
The 2027 General Assembly will mark a symbolic return to Rome, the city that hosted the very first IAU General Assembly in 1922 and again welcomed the astronomical community in 1952. The meeting will be hosted by the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) and held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone.

- 9 Division Meetings,
- meetings of IAU Offices and Centres,
- Commission and Working Group sessions,
- Invited Discourses.
Important deadlines
15 January 2027 – deadline for abstract submissions and travel grant applications
5 March 2027 – early-bird registration deadline
IAU travel grants
Participants planning to apply for an IAU travel grant should submit all their abstracts and complete their registration before submitting the grant application. According to the IAU, priority will be given to early-career researchers and participants from countries eligible for official development assistance.
Members of the astronomical community are encouraged to consult the programme, submit scientific contributions and register for the General Assembly.
