The Committee for Astronomy
The Committee for Astronomy of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) encompasses astronomy within its scope of activities, and its tasks include undertaking all actions that promote the development of astronomy and the application of its achievements. It also serves as the National Committee for Cooperation with the International Astronomical Union.
The Committee for Astronomy of PAS selects Poland’s representative in the international consortium responsible for publishing the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics and annually applies for funding to support the publication of the journal.
About the Committee
The Committee for Astronomy of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) was established in 1952, and in its current form, it operates based on Resolution No. 2/2011 of the General Assembly of PAS from May 26, 2011, under the Division III: Natural Sciences and Earth Sciences of PAS.

Organizational Structure
The Astronomy Committee (KA PAN) is a collegial body of the Polish Academy of Sciences that brings together Academy members within the field of astronomy and facilitates their collaboration.
KA PAN is affiliated with Division III of Exact and Earth Sciences of the Academy. The main task of the committee is to influence the development of the discipline nationwide and to integrate scientific centers and communities.
In addition to Academy members, the KA PAN includes distinguished scientists in the field of astronomy representing higher education institutions, scientific institutions of PAN, research institutes of various ministries, and representatives of other institutions and organizations.
